Celebrating Over 60 Years of Extraordinary

Oceanfront Dining

A Tradition Since Basically Forever.

Our Story

A Myrtle Beach restaurant was built in 1930 by Henry Taylor of High Point, NC. For 10 plus years the Taylor family vacationed at their oceanfront beach cottage. During the 1940s, Charles W. Angle purchased the cottage, enjoying the sound of the ocean’s tide until 1954, when Mrs. Nellie G. Howard purchased the cottage and began operating Howard’s Manor. With nine guestrooms and three home-cooked meals daily, the guesthouse was a forerunner in providing the warm southern hospitality Myrtle Beach is known for today. Howard’s Manor was advertised as a place where friends meet each year with the beach at their front door.

WONDERFUL!
This restaurant is A MUST! The food was wonderful, the view is spectacular, and the staff is wonderful! But our visit was made even more special because of our terrific server, Gil....he was simply wonderful. His menu suggestions were spot-on. Thank you, Gil!

Wow. Just Wow. Highly Recommend.
Loved everything about the place. Great atmosphere, crazy awesome food and great wait staff (Bill—you rock!). Prices were more than reasonable. My Pappardelle Pasta was off the charts. Pasta was made from scratch in house and the seafood in it was plentiful and fresh. The buttery garlic sauce was exquisite. My husband had the Jambalaya and it was loaded with shrimp and scallops and had chorizo tossed in there too. He said it was excellent. We had the Bang Bang Shrimp as an appetizer and it was great. We couldn’t eat all our food, but we still wanted to have the key lime pie, so we ordered that to go. We loved the outdoor seating and really enjoyed the live guitarist who was very talented and was just loud enough to enjoy but not interfere with our dinner conversation.

Amazing Food With Great Service!
Our family visited the Sea Captains House and enjoyed an upscale dinner in a perfect atmosphere looking out at the ocean. We had the seafood platter and crab cakes - they were cooked to perfection! The service was spot on. We plan to visit here again anytime we’re in Myrtle Beach. I’d highly recommend reservations if you plan to visit as it was a very busy Saturday evening.

Great food! Excellent location with an ocean view.
Great service and great food! Went with a party of 6. Everyone enjoyed their food. I had the Ahi Tuna (captains catch) with roasted Brussel Sprouts and rice and it was amazing. Also recommend the Bluefin Tuna and She Crab Soup appetizers. This was my second time dining at the Sea Captains House and I enjoyed both meals. I’ll definitely be back! Thank you!
