20 Aug Savor Sea Captain’s at Taste of the Town in Myrtle Beach
As summer fades away into fall, Sea Captain’s House in Myrtle Beach gears up for the fall events and food festivals that come along with the new season. This upcoming November, local chefs will gather at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center for the 36th Annual Taste of the Town, the Grand Strand’s Premier Culinary Event.
Known as Myrtle Beach’s original food festival, this tasty event highlights the amazing cuisine of area restaurants as their chefs go head to head in a friendly culinary competition for titles such as Best Entree, Best Dessert, Best Booth Design, People’s Choice Award and Kid’s Choice Award. This annual fundraiser is for the St. Andrew’s Catholic School and proceeds go towards purchasing items such as playground equipment, structural renovations and new technology.
Sea Captain’s House is no stranger to the heat of this culinary event. In 2016, we featured an entree of Autumn Spiced Pan Seared Scallops and White Chocolate Pumpkin Cheesecake with GingerSnap for dessert. Both were a huge hit and we took home multiple awards, including Third Place for Best Entree, First Place for Best Dessert, and People’s Choice Award for Best Dessert. We also received a prize for our booth and were awarded Third Place for Best Booth Design.
Last year, at the 35th Annual Taste of the Town, we entered the contest with two entrees, Braised Pork Belly and our famous She Crab Soup. For dessert we served up a decadent Chocolate Cake. Our Braised Pork Belly was extremely popular and brought home Second Place for Best Entree and our mouthwatering dessert took home First Place for Best Dessert. Once again we got creative with our booth design and won Second Place for Best Booth Design.
This year we’re experimenting with various recipes in our kitchen in hopes to whip up an even tastier dessert and entree that will have the crowd buzzing. We’re also working on a new booth design in hopes to capture the beauty and beach-vibes of our new oceanfront bar. We’re not only excited to compete with our local competitor restaurants, but with ourselves as we strive to win First Place in every category. Sea Captain’s believes in the importance of giving back to the community and supporting local schools.
Mark your calendars for the 36th Annual Taste of the Town on November 5th and make plans to stop by the Sea Captain’s House booth to taste all the delicious samples we’ll be serving!
